The PLOT
A Community Sharing Garden
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world;
indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead
In 2016 the PLOT transformed a vacant 2-acre site near the Surrey Newton Bus Loop into a plentiful organic Sharing Garden, FREE to all the community. The garden is anchored by the Newton Medicine Wheel, which creates a physical, cultural and spiritual context for personal and community healing. Free healthy food, weekly work parties and Sunday Picnics, plus universal indigenous solstice/equinox celebrations engage a very diverse neighbourhood. Wonderful and unexpected connections are made between those of all ages, stages and stations in life – young, elderly, families, long-time residents, newcomers, immigrants, refugees, those with means, those without (including the homeless and those with substance abuse and mental health challenges). Please see our COVID-19 page for recent changes to work parties etc.
